Frequently Asked Questions
Your phone shares its location with your circle at an interval you choose — from every 10 minutes to once an hour (once an hour without a subscription). Everyone's latest position shows on the map, and sharing only works between people who have both accepted the connection.
Yes — you can keep using WayliLoc without a subscription, with location updates once an hour. Paid plans (Basic, Standard, Premium) add more frequent updates, the SOS emergency mode, location history and more. New accounts also get a 3-day free trial of the paid features.
Without a subscription you see your circle on the map with updates once an hour and three days of history. Paid tiers add faster updates, real-time SOS, geofence alerts and 30 days of history; trip history and saved places are Premium. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.
In the app, open your circle and share your connection code, or enter someone else's. Both people confirm, and then you appear on each other's map. No one is ever added without mutual consent.
SOS is the emergency mode — the only one that tracks in real time. One press alerts your circle and streams your live location so they can reach you fast. On supported plans, your phone can also stream live audio to your circle while your SOS is active.
During an SOS you can broadcast live sound. It needs microphone access — if it has not been granted, the app asks for it right when the SOS starts, and the alert itself goes out either way. While sound is being sent, a microphone icon is shown on screen, so you always see that you can be heard. Outside of an SOS, sound is never transmitted.
It shows up only while that person’s SOS is running with sound switched on — that is, they allowed access to the microphone. The SOS itself does not depend on the microphone: the alert, the live location and the notifications go out anyway — there is simply no sound, and instead of the button you see a note that audio is not being broadcast. Listening also needs your own Standard or Premium plan: without a subscription and on Basic the button is visible, but tapping it opens the plans screen. In child mode there is no such button at all — a child never listens to anyone, although the child’s own SOS can broadcast sound.
Yes. Draw a geofence around home, school or work — a free-form shape, not just a circle — and get notified the moment someone in your circle arrives or leaves.
Notifications are based on the saved GPS points. Indoors, in underground car parks and places with a weak signal, GPS may place a point further from your actual location — that's a feature of satellite positioning on your device, not the app. So that entering and leaving register reliably, make the geofence with some margin — larger than the building itself. Then, even if the points scatter, falling inside the zone is recorded correctly.
Yes. Child Mode is a calm, simplified screen with a big SOS and an “I'm here” button. A parent sets it up from their own device, and up to 10 parents or relatives can connect. The child's account is anonymous — no email or password — and the device always shows an ongoing monitoring notification.
Updates are interval-based to save battery. On Android, background tracking is kept alive by a persistent notification. On iOS the app holds a location stream open, so a point is saved on schedule even when the phone lies still — the trade-off is battery use, and intervals on iPhone start at 15 minutes. If you force-quit the app by swiping it away, iOS turns location off completely and recording stops until you open the app again. During an active SOS, tracking is real time.
Only one active device saves points. The others will show a "Tracking is active on another device" banner with a "Track here" button — it hands tracking over to the current device.
No. Your location is shared only with people you've approved, and both sides must accept the connection first. You can disconnect anyone at any time.
Yes. Location data is encrypted and stored securely, shared only with your approved circle, and never sold to third parties. Read our Privacy Policy for the details.
Location history is available on every plan — only the depth differs: 3 days without a subscription, 30 days with one. Trip history — replaying routes, stops and places with timestamps, and rebuilding a route to somewhere you have been before — and saving your own points on the map are Premium features.
In a secure database. How long it is kept depends on your plan: Without a subscription — 3 days, with a subscription — 30 days.
Yes. Sign in at wayliloc.com/map and follow your circle in a browser: the live map, history for the window of your plan, geofences and an active SOS with its live sound. It needs a Standard or Premium subscription you bought yourself. The web map only shows data — it never changes anything on the phones you follow.
Yes. Add a widget on iOS or Android to see a loved one's latest location at a glance. On iPhone, an active SOS also appears as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
WayliLoc runs on iOS and Android, in 16 languages, with light and dark themes.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so cancel from your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel billing on its own.
Delete your account from the app's Settings, or use our Delete Account page. All your personal data and location history are permanently removed. If you have a subscription, remember to cancel it in the store as well.
